I was thinking about this too. Haven't really come up with any answers yet, just more questions lol.

Second question would be, for those of us who are screenprinting what is the easiest way to number a ltd. edition shirt?

I know one guy who only prints 100 of each design. It all depends on how much your selling them for and how many you want out there.

If you sold them for $50 and only made 10 or 20, people could think they are really exclusive. If you sold them for $20ish but made 50,100, etc., they perceive that its's not so exclusive.

You could print 500 and print the numbers inside by the tags. Start selling #500 and work your way down so you can say on your website how many you have left.

It really depends on how popular your shirts are in general. You don't want the limited edition shirts to be sitting around, and at the same time you don't want them to sell out too quickly and disappoint your loyal customers.

I'd say take a look at how many shirts you sell in a month and add 50% (to account for increased demand due to limited supply). Something around that number would probably be a good starting point.

If your monthly sales are pitifully small, you might think about waiting until you have a larger customer base before creating limited editions, just so you can anticipate at least some demand.

I agree with Jasonda, I didn't even think about that.
