Default Job pricing

Okay this is the first of two jobs I have with a tavern. I want to make a decent profit but not sure what's too much or too little.

50 shirts
two color left chest design on front
three color full design on back
100% 6.1 oz cotton black tee

Cost of transfer and shirt is approximately $5.40 after adding incoming freight costs to the shirt.

I was thinking of selling for $7.50 to $8.00 to make around $100. He is giving these to members of the dart league. He is not selling them.
Is this too low for a black shirt with print on both sides?

The next job is for shirts he will sell.

And how many hours of art time? Is that free?

I think you need to be in the $14 - $15 range.

(Boat gas ain't cheap!)

Call some area screen printers and tell them you have a 2 over 3 on black, you supply the art, they supply the T-shirts and see what I mean.

I know. Fluid already filled me in on what he would charge for screen printing. I haven't given a price so I'll go ahead and raise it. I have to get used to the idea of making what my time is worth and not feeling bad about it. Too much of my Dad in me.

One point that we always make in the sign business (my main business) is that many times people will try to get you to do things cheaper with a promise of more work to come in the future.. I dont know if he tried to use that to bargain with, but it is a very common thing that customers will try. So never discount a price on a first order for a promise of more work following.. Also if you sell them to him for a lesser amount now.. He will think you should be able to on future orders. Glad to see that you have decided to raise the price..

I know, I hear the promises all the time at my daytime job. I'm already working on the second job and he gave me 50% up front for good faith money. He's been a family friend for many years. That's how I got the first order.
