Default Loyal customer savings?

I am curious if any of you who own their own business offer a loyal customer discount? Or maybe a referral bonus if they refer someone to your business? Perhaps a % of savings, or something of the like.

If so, what types of plans do you use?

We've talked about this, but haven't done anything about it yet. I'll be interested to see if anyone has tried this, and if it had good results. The studies I've seen on this sort of thing are mixed, some say it works really well and some say it makes no difference.

i think that is a good idea the costumers who will buy various quantity of your products for a certain period of time will get discounts or freebies, so as costumers that referred other costumers too.

What I am hoping is to hear from people that have a program like this in place and could share the details.

I send out discount cards with all my orders. Its been pretty successful at getting customers to return. Very cheap to implement. I wish I could do a commission based thing for referrals, but my shopping cart software doesn't let me.

I'm sure it wouldn't be very costly to implement, and repeat customers are what every business really wants. So you may lose a couple of dollars on the sale, but the increase in the chance of that customer spreading the word of mouth for your company is priceless.

We usually throw in a handful of extra shirts free of charge for the good customers.
