Default Alstyle 1701 or 1301 for Streetwear

Is the 1701 better than the 1301 for streetwear clothing line? Im looking for the same quality like the brands on karmaloop..anyone know what brands they use? (not including the cut and sew by the larger companies such as LRG, Obey, Etc.) Thanks!

Most streetwear brands that use Alstyle often use the 1301 as it is heavier than the 1701. However neither is better than the other as it all comes down to personal preference.

Actually there are differences, as you say the 1301's are 6 oz but the 1701 is 5.5 oz, not a huge difference in weight. Main difference is the 1701 is ringspun cotton and the 1301 is just regular tubular cotton

1701 is way softer

Yeah, 1701 would be the way to go. I remember hearing that THE HUNDREDS x USAGI YOJIMBO by STAN SAKAI use them as their blanks. Always make sure the blanks you are looking at are ring-spun. Unless it's for a promotional shirt or something like that. But for clothing companies, ring-spun all the way. Big difference.

thanks for all your responses. Im even more confused now however! Can anyone list the names of urban brands that use the 1701 and brands that use the 1301? I cant get a resellers ID soon enough so I cant purchase the samples. Anyone want to sell me samples of either? Thanks for your help!

Alstyle 1701 is popular with streetwear brands. I also know Obey uses American Apparel 2001 for a lot of their shirts.

The thing to keep in mind is that the softer the shirt, the better the print quality will be.

we print dor a couple of urban brands on karmaloop and we usually recomend they use ringspun...whatever brand that is just the best quality for a shirt like that.

This is almost like asking what color do you like better. It all boils down to personal preferences. Get some samples and compare them. Show them to your friends and see what they have to say. I personally like Alstyle 1701.

The first set of street wear shirts I had printed for one of the brands I work with were on American Apparel 2001 Fine Jerseys. That didn't work out so well haha. The 2nd brand I'm working on right now is being printed on Alstyle 1701's. They should be at my door step any day now
