so im gonna be opening up a online store to sell my own brand line of shirts.
im planning to use a shopping cart such as cubecart zen or agora. the question is, since im going to be using one of those carts and its gonna be routed to my card. would i need a license? state? any legalities?

Can you explain what you mean by routed to your card? The customer would normally be paying and the payment would come from their card.

You would need to check with your local chamber of commerce to see what it requires for businesses selling in your area. Some places will require a sellers permit to monitor sales tax and some will require a business license, some will require both.

Ahh...gotcha. Yep, that would all be handled by a merchant account.
