I think it depends on *how* personal you're talking about.
Too much in any extreme is never a good thing. I think the blogging process can be sort of an ongoing learning process where you get to find the line that fits your business.
Blogs can help potential buyers feel more connected to you as the seller, something they may not get from huge corporations.
But like Joe said, you also don't want to alienate customers because you blog about how much you hate ice cream. Could be that ice cream lovers buy the most t-shirts. That's a safe example, but you get what I'm saying
