I have done heat pressing out of my house for a while now but I want to venture deeper into the market and do High School sports wear for my surrounding high schools so my question is how is the best way to get started into this, Obivisley I need a good clothing supplier and I need a good vendor to buy my supplies such as heat transfers and lettering and numbering any ideas would be very helpful thank you .

I'm afraid I'm not going to be very helpful to you because I'm just getting started also. But I was just going to start a thread about pretty much the same thing, so I'm just going to read any responses that you get.

My main question was going to be this......are high school names and mascots free game for everyone? I have read enough to know that I won't be able to do collegiate t-shirts, but what about my kid's highschool? Can I use their name and mascot for tees?

Most school mascots are pretty "generic". You probably have more than one school using the same "eagle" mascot for example. It's when you start adding the specific school name to the items that you want to work something out with the school. Some school districts have approved vendor lists for things such as uniforms. However, spirit wear may be a different situation. I would talk to the Principal, PTA Chairperson and the athletic director to see what they are currently doing for these items. However, don't look to get rich working with the schools. Tight budgets and their need to make a profit from spirit wear typically means you might be able to squeeze out $2-3 dollars per shirt if you're doing some type of t-shirt. Remember, the people buying these items (mainly the students) don't have lots of money to spend.

There are more threads here on doing spirit wear for schools. Do a little search for more information on how others got started along this line.
