Default Pricing help.....Please!!!!!

I have a customer who is wanting 250 black t-shirts. The shirt has a simple single color design on the front which is no problem, but a very detailed multicolored design on the back (problem). I figured I would just order transfers for the back design which solves that problem. Now, I am unsure how to price this. I know the customer sells these for around $20 each, so should that affect my price? I don't want to underbid, and I definetely don't want to overbid, as this could be the beginning of a very lucrative friendship. How would you price this job taking into account shirt price (black t's med - xl), screenprinting cost for the front, heat transfer price for the back, and fair profit? Thank you!

You have all the ingredients there, just fill in the figures and you've got it. If you underbid, get the job and successfully complete it, but don't make a decent profit, this customer is going to expect cheap instead of profitable, so just name your price. You are not going to get every job you bid on, but if this is a previous customer who knows the quality of your work, he should expect you to make a reasonable profit.

This is a potential customer so a good bid is essential. The customer is also in another state which makes it near difficult to determine the going rate for the area. I am new to the t-shirt business so I am unclear on how to set my prices and how to discount for quantity. I guess my question should be, when doing detailed art that would require the use of a transfer (or dtg equipment which I don't have yet) does one count the colors then price like a screenprint job? Ex. would I charge as if it were an eight color job then subtract the screen fees since I would not actually be screenprinting the shirts? What would you charge? I am just trying to get an idea to make sure I am not way off.

Shirt cost +100% markup
Transfer cost +100% markup
Apply transfer = $1.00
1 screen - $20.00
print front - $.50 per shirt.
This is how I would price it.
That would be competitive down south. Some areas of the country would get more.

Well, I just crunched some numbers and based on your suggestion, I was pretty close. If anyone else has suggestions I am open to your input as well. I would love to get a detailed price chart to help me learn the whole pricing aspect of the business. Making the shirts seems to always be easier than pricing them.

There are software programs for this purpose. But it's still basically the same. You input your figures; or you add them. Computer or calculator, it's about the same so I have never bothered with the software. Good luck and God Bless.
