Default to process orders or let someone else do it

Again, still in planning stage. I will have a web site with a process including selling t-shirts designed by me. I am trying to decide if I should handle all processing or find a manufacturer that will create my product, store it and drop ship to my customers. Am I crazy to think about carrying inventory, doing the shipping and all that effort/costs that goes with that. I expect sales to be light initially, but explode soon after. Thanks

Using a fulfillment service could be a good way to start out. You will pay some fees, which will lower your profit margin, but they handle a lot of your workload.

You can check out this section of the forum for more info on fulfillment services.

Nope, not crazy at all. It will add work on your end, but you will see higher margins than if you used a fulfillment service. So it really depends on what you want to spend your time on, and how much time you really have to complete orders.

Now, here is where you are getting a little crazy. I wish you great success, but since you are still in the planning stage, this is not a realistic expectation.

Thanks for the info. As for my expectations. Selling t-shirts is just part of my plan. Its the part you don't know about that gives me my confidence. Stay well and thanks again. j

I'm sure you don't want to give away any secrets now since you're still in the planning stages, but once you have your site done please post what your other smoking gun is. My curiosity is peaked now.
