Default [CLOTHING LINE] Pricing Pricing Pricing

How much is TOO much for a tshirt? At flea markets, I sell em for $20 given the fact that everyone surrounding me is sellin them for that price or much less (it just makes sense).

But online, I feel that number can go up or down depending on a LOT of factors. What is your opinion on pricing. Whats the general cut off for someone just starting out?

Online or offline, there are a lot of factors that can go into pricing.

There's really not one set price.

Some t-shirts sell for over $150, some t-shirts sell for less than $5 retail.

It's just a matter of figuring out your own costs, your own market niche, and deciding where you want to fit in for your clothing line.

I only sell through ebay at the moment and I don't get $20 a shirt. But they not original designs so I can't complain. If you want more for em start creating unique designs.....which is the hard part!

hey,
welcome & good luck to you! i too, think that you need to factor in your expenses to create it, etc. like rodney mentioned...base it on your overall cost p/item.

Pricing in its purest form is based on your costs. But being able to sell at a certain price has much more to do with perceived quality.
And since you brand isn't a household name, the quality is perceived within the first minute of someone seeing your shirt whether it be in person or online.

So nicer quality and nicer prints can justify a higher price point. Just make sure that online you make the quality difference clear since people cant physically see or feel your product.

Also strategic branding of the product can added to the perceived value/quality. (custom neck tags and hang tags)

It's all about your market. Your market at a flea market don't want to spend over $20. If you can find a market that wants to spend more go for it.
