Disclaimer: I usually don't like to post customer service issue things in public, but I'm a bit desperate and I'm hoping someone here has some inside info or a suggestion.
I ordered from Imaginary Foundation on December 7th. I got charged on Dec 11th. But as of today, I still don't have a t-shirt.
I know they only ship once a week on Fridays, but it's been a few Fridays since then and I haven't seen anything from them. I'm only about an hour away, so the transit time shouldn't take too long (1 day max).
Has anybody ordered from them before? How long did it take to get your order? I've called and left voicemails twice, emailed 3 times and nothing.
Anybody know anybody that works there that can give me an order update?
First they said that they previously sent me an email saying the color I ordered was out of stock and that they had the color white in stock if I'd like to substitute (they also apologized for the delay).
I didn't receive a previous email letting me know about the stock shortage, but I guess it's possible that it was lost somewhere in transit. I got all of their subsequent emails though just fine.
A replied a few hours later saying the white would be fine.
Then I got another email a couple days later saying that they were sorry the order was delayed, but the item is out of stock and that they are refunding my card.
I got confused at that point, since they said they could send the white color and this latest email didn't clarify whether both colors were out of stock or that they even received my prior response.
I replied to that email with my confusion (and frustration at this point), and got a short one line email the next day saying basically "sorry, both are out of stock now".
They have some awesome designs there, but they could do a bit better on their customer service. It didn't leave me encouraged to shop at their store again.
I'm sorry you had such bad experience with them, Rodney! I've ordered from them more than once in the past, and I haven't had any trouble.
I think what it could have been is that they have one person (who never mentions their name) who sends very terse emails, and another, Nick (who I believe also does the artwork) who is most helpful. I once received a shirt from them that had a hole in it; I contacted them and got a prompt response. When they sent me a hole-less one, they even included a free shirt.
I just searched through my emails, and I found an email that I had sent to them with a question on December 14. I got a response the 15th from Nick, placed an order shortly after (I forget which day exactly), and I believe it even shipped out before the next Friday.
Do they know you're the administator on this t shirt forum? I believe if they did they would understand what a negative it would be for their business.

You know, that's a bit like how I felt. LOL. No shirt for me. And I really wanted it too.
I think it's just out of stock, but I didn't really get much info from them.

All the terse emails I got were from Nick.
Maybe I just caught them at a bad time (although my emails were sent around the same time as yours).

I don't want a negative image of their business...I just want a t-shirt
My reason for this thread was really a reach to see if someone here knew someone that worked their or talked to someone there via email regularly who could give me an update.
It really shouldn't matter who the customer is (not like I'm anybody worth noting). Whether they are Mark Ecko, Joe Blow, or Steve Jobs, they should get the same level of service.
Heck, I know I'm not perfect with my own shipments, but I try to at least be a bit more customer servicey with my emails.
No worries though. I doubt it's a "trend" or anything for them. Everybody has an off time.
Wow, beautiful designs, very original and vibrant colors. Which t-shirt supplier do they use? or are they custom made? Does anyone own a shirt from them? If so, how is the quality of the printing? Soft hand? No hand?
Sorry Rodster for their sloppy service.
Crap...the shirts I want are not available in my size, they're XL!

They use American Apparel except for one or two colors that AA don't make; in those cases they use another brand (I don't know which) that runs slightly longer than American Apparel does, but otherwise fits about the same. The prints look really good and mine have remained vibrant. The non-black parts of the print have a medium hand, but the black parts are very soft.
This is a discussion about anybody ever order from imaginary foundation? that was posted in the General T-Shirt Buying Discussion section of the forums.
