Can someone please decode and explain these t-shirt specs to me? 185 gms/M2 ( 24/1)
185 gms/M2 = grams per meter squared, more commonly referred to as 185gsm. It's a measure of the weight (and by implication, thickness) of the fabric. Equivalent to 5.45oz/yard (commonly just listed as 5.45oz), it's a typical weight for a mid weight shirt (like a Gildan #5000, or just a touch heavier than a 50/50 Best from Fruit of the Loom).
24/1 refers to the fineness of the yarn used to knit the fabric. I'm less au fait with yarn, but if I remember correctly that's actually relatively coarse.

Thanks for your reply. Is it possible for me to measure get these specs of a shirt that I liked? Lets say I was out shopping and saw a tee that I liked and said I want to use this type of shirt for my designs. Is there a technique to measure the shirt my self to get the GMS and how would I determine the yarn count?
Measuring the shirt pretty much involves destroying it (i.e. cutting it up). After a while, you'll just get a feel for the different specs. Get the specs on the clothing you have access to whenever possible so you can build on your knowledge database.
