Default T-shirt Sizing

Received an order of children's shirts from Gildan today and found their sizing to be very odd.

Their largest Toddler size, a 4T, is much larger than their smallest Youth size, an Extra Small.

Am I crazy in thinking that the sizes should progress
1T, 2T, 3T, 4T, YXS, YS, YM, YL, YXL, S, M, L, XL, etc. ? Or am I just ignorant as to how children's shirt sizing works?

Has anyone else had an odd sizing experience where another brand's sizes don't seem to make much sense?

Default Re: T-shirt Sizing

It looks like it depends on each company. For example our sizing goes by month - we do baby-toddler. So the sizing goes as follows: 0-3, 3-6, 6-12, 12-18, 18-24, 24-36, 36-48. We do have customers that relabel and resize the 18-24 to a 2T, the 24-36 to a 3T and 36-48 to a 4T. But if you are receiving your shirts all from the same company they should progress accordingly (although there is no such standard as a 1T - toddler starts at 2T.) Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any further questions.
