Angry Be careful with your credit cards and vendors

This past weekend, Saturday to be exact. Someone made a fake email account (gmail) using our business name and credit card info to purchase the vista upgrade. $300 of my money was stolen. Freakin punks!

I mention this as the card number used is only used for business and used for t-shirts & supplies.
We have tracked this down to Texas so far.

Suggestion
If you give your cc number over the phone, take notes of the persons full name, extension number, company, date & time of the transaction.

What a pain in the rear this is. be careful.
Cheers

I have a business card I keep a very small amount of $ on and if I need or order large orders I transfer funds. I only use that one CC online.

Hi Richard that really stinks. I had my identity stole about 4 years ago. I was buying a house and 2 weeks before closing someone went out and spent $45000 in a 5 day period on credit cards I didn't know I had. It took several months to get this problem solved and I still can't get instant credit, I have answer several key questions before I get approved. I hope you get this resolved as painless as possible. Good luck . .... JB

Look on the bright side, they just bought a buggy, piece of poop, unproven operating system. Maybe they will fry their computer. hehe

Our company credit card was used by someone, twice. We reported to the bank as fraudulent charges, and the money was reimbursed. Wellsfargo was/is very good to us.

Of all the things they could have bought...

It also seems like if you were going to steal someone's credit card number you'd be better off going for their personal, rather than business, card. I guess they hoped you'd do enough turnover on the card and/or be making similar purchases such that you wouldn't notice.

Bah! I'm sorry to hear that. People aren't nice.

Although you're safer using your card with anyone and anywhere than you are letting it be taken from your table at a restaurant.

Unhappy Re: Be careful with your credit cards and vendors

Been there - had it done to me too. Boy the cc numbers get out very quickly and the charges pile in fast. The bank took care of the false charges but it took a while.

A fast cancelling of the CC and reissue of new one will stop the actions (after damage has been done.)

Good Luck

The person worked at the company which you made a purchase? Does the person no longer work there? I assume police report was filed. It's getting scary to do business. I go through a few things, but I think the more I do biz with people, the higher the stakes. Good grief!

Same thing happened to us around July 5. The difference is someone ordered macy's, some uniform company $500, wmv match.com $150, USPS Global $500, USPS Global $130, Meetic.com $130...The reason we caught it was the CC comapny called me inquiring about the charges since it is not like my history. They had already declined some of the stuff purchased but a few days before we realized there was something wrong a company called us asking about a purchase and I had to ask them what do they sell and apparently it was a computer company. So that one was also cancelled. I just wonder how do they get away with it since most CC don't allowing shipping to a different than billed address. Meanwhile it is credited back and the card is froze and they issued me a new one. But it was a headache since I had to drive to our bank take the money out of the account and go to my distributor to get our shirts and pay cash. Luckily our distributor is only an hour away from us. It definitly should worry people that use debit cards at gas pumps ect.... its harder to get that back since it is automatically coming from bank accounts. I know I won't use my debit card anymore!! It has definitely woke me up. I have more protection with my CC. I just wonder if one of the suppliers had a breach of security lately? But we have so many suppliers from all over since we have picky customers.
