Default Cheapest Tees in Chicago?

Hey all-

Sorry, another question from a noob. I am located in the Chicago, IL area. I am producing a student film and I need to get some custom shirts printed up for my crew.

The designs I have in mind wrap around the entire shirt, front, back, sleeves and sides. I'd like to do screen prints but I don't know too much about this and I am open to other ideas as well. One design would call for simple black on a red shirt, another design would call for beige and black on a long-sleeved orange shirt.

What I am asking this forum is, how can I track down the cheapest price per tee in my city? I'd probably be printing up 50 or less of these. Like I mentioned, I am a student, so I guess I'd like to know if this is an industry that is known for cutting breaks to people like me

I plan on having people pay for their shirts, but I'd still like to try and keep the price as low as possible so people actually buy them

Any advice would be appreciated. The likely answer will be "shop around for quotes..."

But if anyone knows of a top-notch screenprinting business in Chicago, please let me know!

Thanks for reading,

Leo

There are not a lot of screenprinters that can do this kind of "all over" print because it requires specialized equipment.

Here's a thread that lists a few places that can do it for you:

all over printing sources - screen printing print all-over the t-shirt with a belt screen printer

Because the forums don't allow self promotion (and lots of our members are printers), we can't really recommend a printer for you. The best thing to do would be to place a "Service needed" ad in the TF Classifieds. You can do that once you have 15 posts or more.

Hope that helps!

Based on how you described your project, it sounds like it would be best to just outsource the printing to a local screen printer. They would then be able to source the blank t-shirts for you wholesale and provide the printing services you need.

If you check out your local phone book Yellowpages under the Screen Printing category, you'll find numbers to local printers. Check with them to see if they can do the type of printing you need or if they can refer you to someone in the area.

If the design is too complicated (sounds a bit complicated for "crew" shirts ), then it might need some readjustment...but it's possible you can find a printer in your area that can do the printing and provide the shirts.

I know of two, neither of whom would do a fifty shirt order. Fifty shirts is a perfectly respectable order size, but unfortunately top-notch printers deal in volume. Your average suburban printer can do a perfectly good job though, they just don't have a name for themself.
