Hi all back again trying to get up on this whole tshirt game!! so, I have a line I have been marketing and will most likely be buying a simple 4 color press for as low cost as i can...I'll be posting a thread on that as well.
what I need help with is this i'm looking for a generally light weight tee that is relatively cheap that i can get w/out a resellers license (dont have one yet) that is of good quality.
I found Anvil 490's for pretty cheap. under 3 bux.
now my question is has anyone used these? how do they hold up? is there a better bet?
any help would be greatly appreciated. my designs are there. my printing setup right now isn't the greatest and i'm buying shirts retail.

If you check the wholesalers listed in this thread, you'll find several that sell wholesale without requiring a reseller's permit (like JiffyShirts.com):
Thinner, soft tees are usually more expensive because they are considered a premium item. They are also usually sold for more retail. So ideally, you want to find a good t-shirt and pass along the costs to the customers by letting them know they are getting a quality product.
That being said, Gildan has a new, "softstyle" t-shirt that's pretty decent if you're looking for lower priced, soft, lightweight tees.
are anvil and gildan on completely different levels?
They are comparable.
The Anvil 490 is a 4.5 oz, organic ringspun. If you are getting them for less than $3 buck, without a resale license, grab them. Where are you buying, that's an excellent price.
The only drawback to that shirt is the limited color choices.
i'm with chobay there. we learned quickly that gildan's suck lol We use sanmar.com for 95% of our orders which does require a resellers id, which if you can get one then sanmar would be a great choice for shirts. Their port & company shirts have a wide range of colors and are nice quality, even in white which with the gildan is different. The whites are much thinner than the colored shirts even though they're supposed to be the same lol
