Just wondering if anyone has ordered shirts from this American Apparel's distributor? I'm particular interested in learning more about the their own version that they manufactured that's the equivalent of AA's 2001 fine jersey basic tee. The guy from this company told me it's exactly the same in quality and fit as AA but costs less...that sounds pretty awesome to me. They also do relabeling under the tape for for a very decent price. They're in northern and socal.

it dose not add up.
There is always someone making exact replicas of some styles of known brands. Is the cost difference really that much ? do they have their own knitting machines ?
Here in Canada there is "aa" in Montreal, this is where peeps here order from. There is also a new "aa" distributor in Toronto now, this makes it convenient, but they are not claiming to make the exact same thing as "aa" and selling it for less.
I honestly don't believe anyone can make the same exact thing as "aa", there are just too many styles and colors. Hey, but its your call.
I know it does sound too good to be true, that's why I wanted to check to see if anyone has ordered from them. Btw, I didn't say that Sun Dog claims to make the shirts in as many colors and styles as AA, I only said that they make the 2001 fine jersey equivalent and I don't know how many colors that's available in.

sorry.
its just that i get emails all the time from Joe's trying to sell me on the "aa" replicas and the its always the same story, "Its Less Money", so i think i've reached the point where i get a little tense about it.
Thats because I have been buying from "AA" since the Carolina days and I know how much work they have put into building their brand.
But no, I've never heard of the company you are trying to learn about.
That's Ok, no sweat Lucy but I do like your loyalty to the brand that you like! AA is lucky to have you as a customer for sure. I do like them too, because they do make well fitted garments that feel very nice and I notice the love/hate thing people have for them and I don't know why. Do some people hate them because they are so popular?

well, I cant speak for anyone else but for myself. Yes, im sure that you will find some that Hate some peeps because they are successful and in the public eye.
If anyone has a reason to Hate American Apparel I would be the perfect candidate if my ego was to be like or better than them. But its not.
here is why, "AA" recently opened 2 retail stores in the core of Toronto's well know high traffic retail areas for witch we too have retail stores a few blocks away. But this did NOT turn into a Hate relashionship, in fact its a possitive thing considering that now we can direct clients to buy from the "aa" stores since there is no way we can stock as much as they do (we do carry the basic styles though ). So, the client walks there, buys a few shirts we dont stock and brings it to us to customzise on " The Spot " . Thats what we do and are known for, "custom t-shirts", we are not a blanks retailer really. So in fact its like having an "aa" retail warehouse down the street. Bonus!
Also, had we not been dealing with peeps like "aa", Gildan etc. thru out the years, We would most likely not be in buisness today. These brand names have help us makes sales.
American Apparel is disliked mainly because of their diabolical managment, loathesome CEO, questional business practices, and exploitation of the "sweatshop free" gimmick.

Do some people hate them because they are so popular?
As Nick said, there are many reasons for hating AA that have nothing to do with them being popular. I'm sure some people hate them for being popular, but most people hate them for having a misogynist CEO, dubious advertising practices, union busting (now behind them as far as we know), extremely poor quality control, etc. (additionally some people hate them just for their sizing)
(personally I think if their CEO stepped down the majority of their problems would be solved in a month... although probably not their inconsistent sizes, colours, quality problems, etc. - but at least their sexual harassment problems would improve... remember that Simpson's episode where Homer was promoted and accidents plummeted?)
