Default Looking for blank vintage style tshirts

Hi there im looking for blank tshirts in various colours that look like they have been washed 100's of times and are very light weight, like the style you see dirty youth make and other high fashion brands...

Alternative apparel is probably the softest of all the samples i've gotten, very lightweight too.

Most wholesalers require a tax id or reseller's permit in order to order wholesale from them.

This is something you should have anyway if you plan on printing t-shirts. It's best to get all the necessary forms done that way you're setup to get the supplies you need for your business (and don't have to worry about doing it later).

It's not really a complicated process. If you search the forums for reseller's permit or tax id, there are several topics explaining how to get one.

Wholesalers ask for those things to make sure they are selling wholesale to businesses only, and not to consumers looking for discounts on products.

Hey Rodney,
Are a reseller's permit and tax id the same thing? If I plan to buy blank tees from a wholesaler to screenprint them and then sell them online, which of the 2 do I need? I've always been confused about these different permits and reading more about them confuse me even more. Thanks.

No, a reseller's permit is usually issued by your state. That lets them know that you are selling and collecting sales tax in your state. It also lets you buy from vendors wholesale in your state and not pay sales tax (like your local screen printer won't need to charge you tax on your orders since you will be charging tax to your end customers that buy from you if they are in your state).

A taxid (also called an EIN) is what you get from the federal government that indicates that you are running a business. This lets wholesalers and vendors know that you are a registered business with the federal government and not just a consumer looking to get a discount: Employer ID Numbers (EINs)

Finally a clear distinction of the 2 that I can understand, thanks Rodney! I was told that if you just sell online, you only need a resale#, not the EIN. Is that true?

You should read the EIN link to see if you need one. That will be your best answer (straight from the source). They have a list of yes or no questions that you can find under the "Do I need an EIN" link.

But for sure, you'll need a resale permit or seller's permit from your state, since that records sales taxes.

I just got through reading that and it did clarify to me what I need. Btw, is there a link you can give me that explains the difference between resale permit and seller's permit?
Thanks

They are the same thing, but they are called different things by different states. Some call it something different (like a sale tax license).
