I am in desperate need of a Women's Fitted L/S Baby Rib Crew (similar to AA style 4307) but in larger sizes. Store wants to reorder but needs a larger size range. AA goes up to an XL in 4307 but their XL is too small. I cannot go with a Unisex style because I need to keep that fitted look. Bella, Kavio, Alternative and LAT also run too small. I need a quality similar to AA...I am looking into the specs on Royal, Article1 and Hanes Silver. Any other suggestions?
Have you looked at the Anvil 1444? This is always my first choice for a ladies long sleeve. My other suggestion was the Hanes Silver.
If you find anything else, please let me know.
Good luck!
I am looking at the Anvil 1444 and the specs don't look very promising. I was very surprised when I compared them to AA and to Bella. Maybe they quoted me the wrong specs. How do you think it compares in size to AA and Bella?
Also looking at Hanes SL24. The specs look good. Do you like the quality? It sounds like you prefer the 1444.
I doubt such a shirt exists. "Fitted" means just that, and the sizing tends to be fairly standard across major brands (as you've so far experienced). There are plenty of larger unfitted options, but fitted and large are mutually exclusive in my experience.
Bella go to a 2xl, which has decent give in the 1x1 rib. While there's every chance there's larger shirts I don't know of, that's the biggest fitted shirt I know of off the top of my head.
Part of the problem is that (again, because they're fitted) the shirts may not look like they fit off the rack... but when you actually put them on it's a different matter (partly thanks to the 1x1 rib obviously).

Hi. Thanks for the response.
Do you think the Bella fit is more generous than AA? The size specs for Bella and AA are very similar. Bella's 2XL looks like it is similar to AA's XL in measurements. Maybe Bella's rib gives more. Have you ever compared them? I would love to know.
When I say "fitted", I mean that the garment has a shape and is not just a square cut. I don't mean that they should be skin tight.
A style can definitely be fitted and large. Top designers have found out that there is a need for their fitted styles in larger sizes: Anne Klein, Dana Buchman and Ellen Tracy are a few of the popular lines. It is a very lucrative business. The clothes are fit on lare size fit models. (Even Ford Models has a large size division.) The garments have shape to them...they are just larger. Not skin tight...just fitted.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the tee shirt manufacturers are up to speed on this fit issue. There are plenty of women who are size 12 and 14 who want a fitted tee shirt and cannot fit into AA's XL.
I did notice that AA is starting to offer a 2XL in some of their women's styles so maybe it isn't hopeless. (But, not the style I need...)
The majority of my customers re-sell...so Anvil gives them the quality at a low cost which is why I go to this item first.
Hanes Silver is a great product, although a little more expensive. If the customer is not as cost conscious it is my second choice because they offer Fitted, Classic, and Relaxed. The trick is finding the Classic Fit in long sleeve. Try calling your supplier to see if they can get it for you.

I know they're at least similar (there's not going to be a dramatic difference), but I haven't done a sufficiently direct comparison to be sure. The AA shirts I've seen have been jersey, whereas the Bella shirts have been mostly ribbed (and one jersey). A Bella 2xl jersey does seem more similar than it should be to an xl AA jersey though (I have compared the two of those).

Gildan women's shirts are somewhat feminine, and considerably larger. They're not the same kind of quality as the other brands named, and I'm not a fan of them (to be clear I don't hate them either, although I do hate the sizing). That said, they're not total trash and they are very cheap if you wanted to investigate them. I'd say their cut is halfway between a men's cut and a fitted women's cut: they have better sleeves and a somewhat shaped body, but they're not ideal. Not square, but not really fitted either. Limited colour options, and I don't know whether or not they have a L/S (they probably do). I'm certainly not recommending them, but I figured I'd throw that out there in case you end up getting desperate Hopefully it won't come to that.

Sure, you see it with boutique designers here, but it's taking longer to filter down to mass market production.

I am definitely no expert on American sizing, but I would expect (based on a limited amount of experience) a size 12-14 woman to be able to fit into an AA xl, provided she likes a tight fit. A ribbed shirt should fit pretty nicely.
If you become desperate...look at TQM, tqmapparelgroup.com. The quality is excellent and they will sew a 2x in any style. If I remember correctly, the minimum has to be 12 pcs.
My customers have said TQM gives a little more breathing room than Bella or aa (not much though) I think it is because of the 1x1, but hey, if the customer is happy I'm happy.
Fruit of the loom has larger sized in a "woman's" cut, but I do not know if they are of the same quality as what you are using. Hanes silver also has larger sizes.
Tri-mountain has lots of larger sized clothing, you can give them a try. Ive found a few fitted (larger)shirts there, but again, Im not sure of the quality. I havent placed an order yet.
You could try the Hanes Silver, or just a ladies styled t-shirt that isn't "fitted", which seems to usually mean a more body hugging cut than just a ladies styled shirt that is cut to fit a ladies body rather than mans. http://www.companycasuals.com/Compan...2&parentId=122
I would definitely look at trying the Hanes Silver Relaxed Fit (SL00). They go up to at least 2XL, and their sizing is larger and looser than some of the other ladies shirts mentioned here (like the Anvil and Bella). This is what we're using now. I don't have a direct comparison, but I know for sure they run larger than Anvil/Bella do.
