Just wondering how much the price per shirt would be, and minimum's. You can get tees in the US for a little over $1. You would figure, with the freight and taxes and such it would be a total waste unless your bringing over shirts in the 100,000's.

This is true. But i maybe be able to get the shirts printed and tagged for a overall cheaper price then what it would cost me in the US.
The paperwork required is simple, but its best to hook up with a broker to make sure everything is in line. What you are considering is true, its not so much that you will find less expensive shirts that a basic blank, but when you consider the printing, labels, packaging, etc. then it makes sense. In addition you will probably get higher quality shirt manufactured than that of a standard blank and it will be according to all your fabric and size specs.

In some cases, yes, but you also run the risk of getting a shipment of defective or not to your spec shirts also!
Not being able to watch your production as it's being done is just asking for trouble. Sure you can hire someone that can watch over it but can you really trust them? You can always fly there yourself and watch over it but now you have to add the cost of you going over there to your T's. I've seen containers of shirts come in wrong and, trust me, the headaches surrounding it and having to deal with the chinese manufacturer are not worth it. Let's not even talk about the fact that you will now be late with your delivery.
As stated above, unless you are doing 100,000's of shirts I just don't think it's worth it.
i am about to start this process with a contact i have from previous employment. i am going to be focusing on athletic clothes. they are wanting to see my 6 -12 month plan so they can figure my capital commitment. anything can go wrong no matter the manufacturer, but i am forced to focus on the bottom line. wish me luck, nothing like starting a project from scratch.
Actually you can connect with manufacturers that will handle smaller quantities, especially now that the economy is slow. Depending on the overall size and requirements of an order some factories will take 300pcs per style.
There are companies that have offices in the US and China that specialize in product development and quality control... I would def recommend either being there to QC yourself (but you would need to speak Chinese), or connecting with a company to represent you at the factory. This can make the process quite easy and eliminate the risk since you would be placing your order through a US company and have a sales contact for your protection.

As ideal as this may sound, I can say from personal experience that having an agent handle QC is risky at best unless you have a lot of experience with this agent.
That's not to say that the first few productions will come out fine. Usually you'll start out with a small order to test them. It comes out fine. Then you do another. No problem. You decide to jump in and put a real order. Your order arrives at the dock. You open the container to find problems. There goes all the margin you made on the first two orders!!!
Can it work that way? Sure but be prepared for a long, arduous road! And that's just with the manufacturer. Now you have to deal with customs!!

I was looking into ordering from China. Could you put up the link to the lower priced tops?
Thanks,
