Post Cut & Sew Production

I am a new company only 6 months old and am thinking of taking the next step to pursue buyers and Pacsun, Nordstrom's and other small surfshop chains I am faced with a choice. I am coming out with two Sweatshirts and a hat that calls to be made from scratch so do I:

A) Use trusted cut and sew contact that i have and has done previous work for me, but he might not have the ideal taste with respects to his portfolio of his clients, I would have to search for the fabric and supply him, so it would take me a lot more time on my part.

B) Use a company like Creative Concepts ( Creative Concept Industries Inc. ) That will help with design, do overseas manufacturing for me. but may be more expensives and have order minimums which i do not know i will be able to meet.

Also i have never dealt with a company like Creative Concepts what are the prices like?
And how many units would a chain like Southern California Nordstrom's order?

The only way for you to know for sure what to do is to contact Creative and have them give you a bid. Only then will you know specifically how they compare to your current supplier.

It is time for a bit of a wake up call to the real world. There is absolutely no chance for you to walk into Nordstroms Seattle HQ and even get to speak with a buyer unless you have a proven brand, proven manufacturing and distribution already established. The cost for Nordstrom's to display products per sq foot is astronomical. For them to give someone with no brand awareness this space is not going to happen. It is difficult enough for small designers even to get their product into small speciality stores. Custom full dye cut and sew hoodies are very expensive as there is alot of coverage and labor involded to produce. Most designer hoodies are made from a much lighter fabric then the typical heavier hoodies so they can be worn more as a fashion statement then for warmth. We do them wholesale for $60 and typically they are retailing for $125. You have to have a high end nich market to make money custom hoodies. We have designers who do real well in the club with them. If you are new to the industry you are starting out with one of the more difficult items to design, produce and market.

start alittle smaller, unless you have major capital. major brands will want 30 days or more credit. always good to dream big, but keep it simple to start. good luck uncletee
