Hey guys i have a quick question i only printed on Gilden shirts, and for those who have printed on both do you think its worth it to cut profit and spend the extra couple bucks to get your shirts printed on american apparel
It really depends on what kind of brand you have. For some brands and demographics, American Apparel isn't needed. For others, it's a perfect fit.
There are also other alternatives besides those two For example, Gildan makes an "american apparel like" t-shirt that is ringspun and light weight like the AA tee.
Typically I don't believe people cut their profit, instead they raise their price and explain the benefits/advantages of the new shirt.
ya i know what you mean. see thats the thing is what i do is of course i would like to raise the price and get more profit, but the way i look at it is i like to keep my shirts in the $15 range so more people will buy it.
o ok i got what your saying. What do you think about the fruit of loom 50/50 shirts.
It might be better for you to buy a few samples of different t-shirts to try them out for yourself to see which YOU feel is a best fit for your customers.
You know your customers better than us, so it's hard for us to give you a solid recommendation.
Honestly, Gildan, Fruit of the Loom, American Apparel are all good blanks. There are hundreds of great blanks out there (Alstyle 1701, Hanes Beefy Tee, Alternative Apparel, Article 1, etc). It's just a matter of finding the one that best fits what you're trying to do.
I just ordered a couple of the Gildan Soft Style Tee, it is not as nice as the Anvil one to me. I have gotten to the place I do no like the necks and ribbing that Gildan uses on their shirts
But like everyone said it just depends on the demographic

Who are your customers? You want to sell the shirt for $15 then yes, in my opinion you should step up to a better shirt.
I'd say it depends on what you're selling. The general public knows AA, not Gildan (or Anvil), but the quality is similar. So...if you're selling a shirt, sell AA. If you're selling a funny tee design (our gafy.com business), sell Gildan or Anvil because you'll save money.
Also, we generally guide customers to Gildan and Anvil for screen printing and direct-to-garment printing because in bulk, you get the same quality and save loads of money.
It's all in the marketing...which is why we all now change our oil after 3000 miles! LOL!

$15 per shirt for AA is too low. Have any of you bought their 2001 style. You pay more than $15 in the store for a blank! You are selling a printed shirt for less than a blank! Premium shirts get premium prices. If your customers are looking to pay $15 and under go with a less expensive shirt.

+1
I don't even sell imprinted Gildans that low (exception for large order discounts of course). American or Alternative command higher pricing because they are made from better materials and (arguably) have a better cut to them. Do not be afraid to charge what your product and work are worth.

Considering you sell shirts to surfers, why not use Allstyle. If its good enough for companies like Hurley, Plan B, Lost and many others it should be fine for you. The price is good and its a way better shirt than Gildan.
ya i will prolly try and use something like the all style and see how that works, and raise the price on it. Now do you know what the price comparision is with all style and AA
