I am looking for 100% cotton Safety Green t-shirts. It seems that gildan, jerzess and the most popular companies do not sell the 100% cotton in safety green. Do not know why, and need to supply a customer with some tees because OSHA told them they were required to were them on site. We are a custom screen printer and embroider looking for a t-shirt wholesaler to supply us with these tees. I know all electircians are required to have 100% cotton because polyester is flammable. Who sells these safety green tees???????

Are you sure? I ask because cotton is actually more flammable than polyester. It wouldn't be the first law that made no sense, but if it's actually just something you've heard it might be worth looking into.

This must be backwards, cotton is the most flammable material. If I'm not mistaken, military flight crews are required to wear polyester or poly/cotton. For flame retardant clothing, I think the recommendation in order is: wool, silk, polyester, poly/cotton blend.
edit: I was wrong about the flight crews, they are not allowed to wear polyester because it melts rather than burns. They must wear cotton under their suits. Still don't understand the electricians though, since cotton is the most flammable.

I use to work for the power company and we were not allowed to wear any clothes that were poly blends. This was because cotton burns and poly blends would melt making them more likely to burn/stick to the body.
The reason some companies require 100% cotton tees is what was said above ... Poly will burn onto and into the skin if it catches on fire.
Sadly, though, in the case of safety green, many manufacturers lean towards 50/50 shirts because they don't fade as fast ... 100% cotton in safety green fades really quickly, and 50/50 lasts longer.
It is something with the dyes and the materials ... The dyes for safety green shirts sticks to the poly better than 100% cotton ... If you are buying, consider the fade factor, too.
Yes, you are correct the lime color fades from cotton much faster than the polyester fabric. This is why T-shirts which require certain approvals for working near streets or in dangerous traffic areas must be made from polyester and the wear factor is much better and the shirts do no fade and keep their high visibilty requirements.
