am I geting ripped off? prices for overseas manufacturing seem high
Hi,
So I decided to go the oversea's manufacturering route, and these are the prices that came out:
a tshirt with the following...
-tye dye to my liking
-screenprinting
-label tags and hangtags
-stud embellishments
-polybagged for retail ready
...Came to $6.40 ($8.90 once it arrives at my retailer's doorstep)
and
a longsleeve shirt with the following...
-tye dye to my liking
-screenprinting
-label tags and hangtags
-polybagged for retail ready
...Came to $7.30 ($9.80 once it arrives at my retailer's doorstep)
And on top of these prices which I think are a ****ing ripoff, there's a 800 minimum for each style!
Unless I find a one stop shop in the US for a lower price than these, I'm stuck with this for now.
Any suggestions/help?
thanks

Did you even try to have this done in USA.. If not why. I would not complain unless you did your home work.. The question you also have to ask is how many of each style are you ordering. How are you going to sell them and at what price. How long will to take to sell. have you sold this design before? Lou
I had thought for a minute about doing it in the US, but then you have to
#1 - find all the factories that do everything u need them to do, that are close to eachother
#2 - ship from place to place
As I could never find a "one stop shop" in the US. Never happened.

Sound to me like you have a deal...since you can't get what you want in US and the outsoucing is the best you can find...then you are not getting ripped off... Anytime you are getting custom items made, you have to expect a rather large minimum...so so I have found ou
Price seems ok. I don't think it's the best deal you can get, but if it's the first time working with you, factory has to cover all their up front costs so they don't lose anything if you don't plan to reorder. This means requesting a minimum order of 800 per style may be what that particular manufacturer has to do. It really depends on what you are having done and the quantity.
Your FOB price and LDP price looks like you are having it air shipped to retailers door. Maybe you should consider a different shipping method to cut costs?

Yes, it is normal for their to be additional costs for importing anything from other countries.
That's common. It's also one reason why people usually only start importing once they are doing 1000's of t-shirts, to help average out the extra costs involved.
