How do I obtain a Reseller licencse in California. Where do I start?
I am not sure how you do it in California, however in Michigan you go to state link and then go to start a business. You can call the State Treasury and they will be able to assist you in that. I have had to register in many different states and all seem to be the same.

Here is the link to California small business, to get a tax id, EIN number just go to irs.gov it shouldn't cost you any money and you can apply right online. Just make sure that you have a fax machine and a printer.
All this permit talk is very confusing.... All i want to do is have someone print me tshirts so I can sell them to my friends for building my bankroll... do I still have to file a seller's permit for that?

Yes, you will need an Tax Id number (EIN) even though you don't have employee's, you will just answer on the form 0 employee's, you will see, very easy to get! Just make sure that you have your company name registered prior to applying. Then go to that link and apply. The resellers license is just for the state that you are in, the EIN is for Federal reporting, which most companies request.

only if the company that you are working with doesn't request that information. You are going to find out, that you will need something.
Go to city hall where you live and find the business office. Fill out the form pay 15.00 and walk out with your resellers license.

In the Peoples Republic of California, you go to the BOE and fill out the form and send it in. You can make an appointment at a field office if you like but you don't need to. A few weeks later your sellers permit will arrive in the mail.

the office in culver city does not require an appointment, you can just walk in and get your permit that same day.
