Default What's with American/Alternative apparel???

Alright....

I was just looking around online at American and Alternative Apparel and the prices for blanks are outragious! Ranging from 20 to 40 dollars. Am I just not getting this correctly, maybe overlooking something? I wouldn't be surprised if I am I'm new to all of this. If anybody can clear this up I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Alot,

-Matt-

what you're probably seeing (or definitely) is the retail price. You'd have to register with them to get wholesale pricing, which is less that half the retail price in most cases

...and if people will pay that for a blank t-shirt... Depending on your target demographic they're very much worth the money.

Yeah American is EXPENSIVE. Even at the Whole sale price they are close to $10 I think. That is a lot for a blank shirt. On top of that they run VERY small.

The wholesale prices for American Apparel t-shirts aren't close to $10.

We can't go into specifics here, but if you contact American Apparel via their website, you can get their wholesale pricing sheet and setup an account.

Yeah that's the other thing I was wandering about, what the size differences are like from place to place. I guess when I make my final decision I will check back at the forum and ask around. Thanks alot for everything.

When you are ready, it's best to get your business setup and then order samples from the various companies that you're interested in.

That will give you an idea of quality, sizing, etc. All of the places will have sizing charts for their merchandise that you can view before you buy.

Not even the quasi-wholesalers (the ones with public pricing, found in Google, will sell to anyone, charge a bit more than wholesale) charge close to that. Even at retail they're only $11/shirt if you buy a 7 pack.

I know a website that can take any size order and it has great pricing. I can get some shirts for under $4, but the shipping price is very high.

I only print as a hobby and they accept purchases without a tax id so it's very convenient. They also have many colors, which I love as well.

You were certainly being quoted retail.

AA would be less than than half that wholesale.

Too answer your question as too why people like them so: the feel and fit. I didn't think much of it, till I received the t-shirt forum tshirt and felt how nice and soft it was. I think it is Alternative Apparel (Rodney knows). That changed my mind about those shirts. Not saying I'd pay retail for them, but I can understand now. Kind of like higher thread count sheets.
