Default Weight of the T-shirt

Is hard for an accountant who try to get into the T-shirt business!!! Thanks god for this forum.

Anyway, i run into some interesting. One of my oversea manufacturer ask me what time of T-shirt of looking for:

160 GSM (Gram per Square Meter)
180 GSM (Gram per Square Meter)
200 GSM (Gram per Square Meter)
220 GSM (Gram per Square Meter)

My question is, how does that convert into t-shirt? which one apply to the 5.4 oz, 5.6 oz or 6.1 oz??

thanks

Vi

You can get a rough idea by using this conversion:

one gram per square meter is equal to about 0.0294935 ounces per square yard

Does that also mean possibly that it is thinner? The lower the GSM that is? So is 105gsm that super thin? I know thin is in but I am afraid of getting too thin (especially for men's shirts).

Thanks in advance!

yes they have alot of sheer fabrics as well as continental. Thats one of the things I like about american apparel is they use a heavier fabric. I really loved the cuts on the Alternative and the continental shirts but for me they were too think. They all seemed to be between 3 and 4 oz. which makes me worry with about ink bleed with my HM1
