Has anyone had a chance to compare the two? American Apparel has been difficult about getting a price list (make you go through hoops) so I haven't even been able to order samples or see pricing.
Anyone know how they compare quality/softness wise...as well as price?
a local supplier dogged american apparel for being more expensive an praised bella, i was sketchy first since id never heard it.. but he had a sample it was an awsome cut, the fitted "hugging" feel, but i dont know aa since i havent seen one in person, i will say bella is an excellent brand, in their site i saw they have mens also i wonder how those are, this guy seemed to think it was only womens maybe its recent but womens shirts r awsome... especially the "juniors sizes" which is what i saw (12-14) is hwat it read, id guess small
I personally stopped using aa because of the fit. I tend to lean towards Bella, Canvas, and alternative apparel. I really like the bella for womens. The feel is great, and the sizing is pretty normal compared to aa. There are a lot less returns for sizing than with aa. The canvas tees, fit a bit small, but seem to be put together better IMHO. Alternative Apparel, seems to be the best of both worlds, I have never gotten so many comments on how soft the shirt is and how much they love the shirt. Alternative Apparel is roughly the same sizes as AA, but a little cheaper.

The Canvas shirts I've sampled are pretty good. Soft as AA yet heavier which is good for some. The cut is also more conservative and much bigger then AA so I'm certain Canvas targets the more general market who like a high quality shirt.
The ones I've seen are currently Made in the USA. But like what they did with their womens range, I'm sure they might move production to another country and quality might suffer like it did with the womens Bella.
ooh wow ok ... well some like me have never actually seen the canvas... or even AltA unfortunately.. could u guys maybe compare these against jerzees and FTL as a benchmark guide? just because i know everyone knows what those feel n look like, my size is Jerzees or FTL SMALL what is the comparable size in their sizing ive heard more of the premium shirts tend to go smaller one (or2!!) sizes as well, is the trunk as thick? smaller? or do they feel just wear like say a bella for guys which is like stretchy or something.. really wantin to move on to a more premium shirt soon
I personally really like Colored Organics (Wholesale Organic Baby Clothes From Colored Organics.). I ordered from AA and their fabric and garment production is so so. CO has softer fabric and the snaps match the fabric color.
My buddy owns Bella and Canvas. I was asking him about his brands compared to AA. Canvas and Bella are in Los Angeles. His focus is style and quality. From what I've seen and heard, Bella and Canvas beat AA in fit, quality, and just how the company is run...
As far as pricing, I'm working on that too. We still need to get our resellers license. We're new to the game.
As far as wholesale, my buddy says that Golden State Active Wear is amazing. He use to own a screen printing shop and GS helped him out and supplied his shirts. So now they are one of the lead wholesellers of his lines.
