Discuss the wholesale blanks industry: Factory direct, custom labels. You can also use this forum to locate a wide variety of wholesale products including t-shirts, hoodies, mousepads, coffee mugs and other imprintable products.
First off, forgive me for asking a question that may have been asked before. I did a search and have been spending the entire day trying to find my answer.
I am new to this business and have not even gotten started yet. I am in the process of "gathering" what is necessary to do this business. I am now at the point where I need to locate a dozen good quality T-shirts to practice on. I could probably do it on lesser quality for trial purposes, but I would rather start the right way.
I do not yet have a tax ID# so I will need to go to a wholesaler who will sell to me without one. Once I have this thing figured out I will be getting an ID, so please don't bash me for not having one. You can't get one for a business you don't have yet!!
When I go to the store and see and feel the T-shirts, I know what quality is. But how do I go to a wholesaler's website and know what is good quality when I can only see a picture?
Would someone please tell me where I can get a good shirt for my first go-around? And which shirt to get specifically. In a range for 1 to 5 in quality, I would thing a 4 would be good. It does not have to be the very best.
Thanks for your understanding and your help. You guys have been awesome!!
I realize this is a question that gets asked a lot but I would greatly appreciate some help. Being new to this forum and this business, there is a great deal to learn and the best way to learn is from the experts, like you guys!!
Yes, I tried the search and was over whelmed with the threads to look through. It would take me days to do that when it would be much easier if someone would please help me.
Here is a sample of the searches I get. More Unanswered questions.
Well as you can tell I am quite biased as to which brand to use for a good quality tee. Although, if you go to our website www.alstyle.com , pick a few styles you are interested in, I will send a few sample pieces for you to test. Email me or private message me with your contact info.
Well Daniel, since you are the only one that has the common courtesy to answer my post, as far as I am concerned, you have my business. I will send you my information so that you can send me a few large shirts.
Thank you very much Daniel, you are a true businessman. I can't believe 61 people viewed this post and I only got one reply. Real helpful forum you guys have here!!!!
"I need to locate a dozen good quality T-shirts to practice on"
You dont need to buy shirts to practice on- The press doesnt know if its printing on t-shirts
Try using, Paper towls, Paper grocery pags- Butcher paper,Old t-shirts- anything just lay it down and print on it.

In this business your only as good as your last t-shirt so give them quality. No-one wants to buy a xl t-shirt wear it once throw it in the dryer and have it shrink to a med. I know since you cannot purchase wholesale yet your going to have a hard time finding quality t-s. Heres a suggestion- Go down to your local CVS store and look at their blank t-s for sale- Their normally 3-for 10 0or 4 for 10. The t-shirts are Gildens- These are excellent shirts- Stay with the 100% preshrunk 6 oz
I was in the same boat as you a couple of months ago. I went to a local shop, looked at the different style, brands etc. They answered all my questions in terms what and what not to do. They will certainly help you because you might become a client

Where are you located
Thank you Darin. This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. And I thank you for taking the time to answer a newbies question.
Practicing on scrap whatever has been my plan from the beginning. I just needed T-shirts for the first, what I would call, practice run. Hopefully they will turn out good enough that they won't be considered practice and I can sell them to our club.
I am in Colorado Springs, CO and it has been some time since I saw a CVS store. But I will look in the phone book and see what I can find. The better T-shirt being 6 oz. is the information I was looking for. It is, of course, common since that the higher the number the better the quality.

Hope it helps and good luck.
Thank you kbunto. This too is a very good suggestion. I use to see screen printing people in a shop in the local mall, but I do not think they are there anymore. There is a near by touristy end of town called Manitou Springs. I'll bet there is a good T-shirt shop there. Hopefully they are not closed for the season.
Thank guys, now this is what I call helping your fellow forum member.
My shop gave me a whole bunch of different brands to compare. My friends tried them on. It came down to American Apparel or Allstyle. I went with Allstyle. You could also order some samples (T-ShirtWholesaler.com - Wholesale Apparel at discount prices! for example). They are relatively cheap and at least you can feel the different garments.
