i have a brand new box of fastink2 cmyk and hate to through it away
is it bad or do they just want to see me buy fastink3? I'm new to the dtg process and thought it would be nice to practice with this ink then switch up? any help appreciated
The ink manufacturer's recommended shelf life for the colored inks (CMYK) is one year and for the white ink 6 months. FastINK 2 was last sold more then 2 years ago and was replaced at that time with FastINK 3.
Pre-treat I don't know about but old ink may not be as stable as newer ink therefore may not withstand normal washing etc. It may also cause clogs in print head.
Plus its an old product and has been improved to avoid those problems with newer versions and flavors of ink currently available.
It also helps the shelf life of your inks to store them in a temperature controlled environment, such as an office, so that you don't have extremes of cold or heat.
Yes i understand just at the cost of ink it pains me to just toss it
but if its between getting better ink and not risking the print head its a no brainer
thanks again

That is the way to look at it. You not only avoid damaging your print head, cartridges, and capping assembly but you also get the latest generation of FastINK - DuPont ink. Each generation of ink has gotten progressively better, both in coverage and washability.
