Default White underbase color overlay registration problem.

I'm starting to have a color alignment issue with my T-Jet blazer pro.

It lays down the white ink underbase and when it comes back for the color pass it starts on the first shirt lined up but progressively gets worse so the last shirt is misaligned by a 1/4in. or so.

I've greased my rails thinking it was getting resistance and that was causing the problems.

If all 3 shirts were off by the same I would say it was a head alignment issue but its not.

NOTE: It doesn't happen when doing 2 passes of CMYK only
Any suggestions?

Thanks, Andy

Hey Andy, make sure you have your settings on your lcd screen set to paper out roll cut. If is just paper out roll then this can be the issue. Also, what print modes are you using for the underbase and then for the color. I have also seen this issue when a customer was using 1440 underbase and a 720 color. Try 1440 underbase and a 1440x720 color. If you use 720 color you would want to use 1440x 720 underbase. Hope it works.

Also, this will only happen when printing with underbase.

Thanks a ton Billy. I was using 720x720 color with a 1440 underbase. I changed the color to 1440x720 and everything is back to normal.

I had forgot we changed that setting when we did a large white shirt order.

Thanks Again,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Just to add to Billy's answer, you also want to make sure that the print mode and directional mode match up, too. So if you're printing on Photo mode, both color and underbase should be in Photo mode. If you're printing in HS (High Speed), both print modes should be on HS.

Glad things are running well now.

Thanks for all the help guys. Its crazy that I've printed 2,500 + dark shirts on this thing and just now had this problem for the first time.

Thanks,
Andy

Where do you set up the color to 1440x720? Is that the same as a Photo 1440 for example? And then Photo 720 means 720x720?

I have the same problem with my Tjet2, sometimes more, sometimes less.

You go to File>FastRIP Setup>then under the Printer tab at the bottom you will see Print mode. Click the box with the 3 dots beside it and you will see your CMYK Print Modes. Click on it and select from Photo or Cartoon. This is how you change your color print mode. Under the Underbase Setup tab is where you change your underbase print mode. If you have been using a t-jet and have not learned how to change print modes I suggest to read your manual. This is very important.

No worries I know how to set up the print modes. Just a bit unsure about the terms 1440x720 and so on.

So 1440x720 = 1440 and 720x720 = 720?

I usually print with a photo/cartoon 1440 and a photo/underbase 720 cmyk pass and I usually get the color pass a little bit too far to the left. I always use the same printmodes, cartoon underbase and cartoon cmyk for example. Should try a 1440 cmyk pass instead of a 720?

You want the resolutions to be close in resolutions or your color will not register with your underbase. So if you use a 1440 underbase then use 1440x720 cmyk. If you use 1440x720 underbase then use 1440x720 or 720x720 cmyk. Using 1440 underbase with 720x720 cmyk will usually give you registration problems.
