We normally find this to be caused by either a dirty or scratched encoder strip or the waste counter needing to be reset. Are you resetting it physically or are you using the adjustment program through your computer? We always recommend using the adjustment program. You can download a copy of the adjustment program here if you don't have it: Fast T-Jet Adjustment Program
We have also had numerous times where users have not cleaned their encoder strips well enough and they're still dirty. Or there are scratches on it. If you have a spare new encoder strip put it on and see if the problem goes away. If you don't have a new one available take out your encoder strip and clean it outside the printer. Use a soft towel and Windex or alcohol. Check it carefully for scratches. Make sure you put it back in correctly. I do recommend that all owners keep a spare new encoder strip on their shelf. They're inexpensive and cheap insurance to have.
Thanks Harry......I should have ordered a new encoder strip when I spoke w/ you the other day.....I will put a call in Monday to get one on its way...... Will let you know if it works or not for me.

P.S. Nice to see that you check the forums on a weekend....
If your lights are flashing slowly, then your waste ink pad needs to be reset. If they are flashing fast then it could be your encoder strip being dirty, scratched, or out of place. If the encoder strip doesn't fix it, then it is your ribbon cable. It is a good suggestion to keep spare parts. Not only the encoder strip, but also a ribbon cable, capping station, and pump. They are all cheap. If you can budget another print head then your set.
Giving Harry a call this morning......already have a printhead and capping station coming, will order in a new ribbon and encoder strip....better to be safe than sorry.\

OK......... New print head, ribbon cable, capping station and encoder strip all installed....... Turned on the machine and the carriage went to the other side and stopped.....all lights are flashin...... Now what? I do have a email in to Equipment Zone.....they are great ppl to work with, but do wish they were closer to where I am located.

I installed a new ribbon cable just the other day for one of my TJet2 customers and the exact same thing happened. There are three ends of the cable that I'm sure you saw. Two go to the print head and one little one goes to the back of the carriage. What happens is that the little ribbon cable can come undone pretty easily when placing the print head and the black plastic cover back in place.
So take the panels back off and take a flash light and check and see if the little ribbon cable is inserted or inserted all the way. You will see the metal connections at the end of it if it isn't inserted all the way. If it is fine, double check to see if your encoder strip is inserted through the hole in back of the carriage. Either one of these will cause that problem. I hope it works for you.
You were right......I got the encoder strip in the right place and put the thing back together......sure nuff....all the lights were still flashing.......
Tore down the machine again....yep, the ribbon cable that attaches to the back of the carriage was off.....so after some cussing and getting the thing back on, and everything put back together,......well.....the lights are still flashing.
Know of a repair facility in the Michigan area?
There isn't one near you that I know of. But just make sure that it is connected all the way in. Usually the far end of it can be just slightly out of place when plugging it back in and even it just barely being out can still cause that. It needs to be plugged in all the way.
Try taking both side panels off, take a flash light if you can't see it, and check to see if the silver connectors of the ribbon cable are showing on the capping station side of the printer. If it isn't showing on that side, move your print head over to the opposite side of the capping station and check the other side of the cable to make sure it is also plugged in all the way.
Leave the panels off when you turn it back on so you can double check the cable. Also, make sure that you are unplugging your printer when doing this. If your printer is still plugged in, you can risk frying the cable, and even worse, the main board. Even though the printer is off, there is still electrical current flowing through the printer. Unless you have it plugged into a surge protector and you turn off your surge protector.

Well, the ribbon cable was the culprit......and what a bugger to get back in.....I had Hawkeye come and get the machine up and running....expensive, but at least it is working...especially since I am back ordered on this particular machine. I have an extra ribbon cable and encoder strip on hand....but don't know if I will ever have the guts to try to replace another ribbon cable..lol.
Hi, Just trying to get my TJET 3 running. I was in line for a re-imbursement from Enron I mean US Screen but... well..you know. Anyway, I have poor ink flow and a poor nozzle checks. I purchased cleaning cartridges and ran them multiple times then I reinstalled my ink cartridges and ran a head cleaning then it began to have an electrical smell to it on the ink/capping station side. Now it lights up Power/Load but does nothing. Is this a ribbon cable or what?
An electrical burning snell is never a good sign. The main reason we have never advocated the cleaning cartridges is that it introduces the likelyhood of a liquid leakage when changing back and forth which can lead to a burnt ribbon cable, burnt head and motherboard. I would pull the head an see if you see a burned spot on the ribbon cable where it connects to the head. If it does begin with the ribbon cable but also plan on potentially replacing the head and motherboard. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - here's to hoping it's only the ribbon cable.
