Angry Boards Gone Bad?

Hi there,

I have just recently purchased a T-Jet and have been trying to bring it back to life by replacing the print head, and rewiring the counter that does not seem to work, (does not even show a #) I replaced the print head once, and did a test page but it appears scrambled like a communication error, I RMAed the print head and got a replacement thinking it was that but the new one that came in does the EXACT same thing. Now I am thinking it is the actual circuit boards on the printer. Is this a stock Epson 2200 part or a bastardized version from US Screen that I have to sell my firstborn for?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jason,

It does sound like something with our communication is the problem. As far as the printhead it is a standard part. You can purchase them at compassmicro.com and it might be a bit cheaper thru there.

You can also contact Harry at equipmentzone.com and he can probably help as well. I know he sells the parts also, and is very active on the forum here, and helps a ton with our members. Maybe him or Alex will jump in here to give you a hand, as I am not sure about the way your printhead is printing. I have not heard of anyone else having this type of issue. I know I didnt help much but hopefully a little

Have you tried to do a nozzle check directly from the epson print driver? How does the nozzle check come out?

Jason,
My hunch is that you have a ribbon cable issue. It could have been damaged when you were replacing the print head or by the previous owner.

Your best bet would be to call us at Equipment Zone or US Screen to figure out exactly what's going on.

It could also be a motherboard, if the ribbon cable is fried their is a decent chance that the motherboard fried as well. I would start with the ribbon cable first though.
