So just to explain my situation with this not so splendid T-Jet experience. I have tried to bring this poorly maintained printer that I purchased from eBay back to life but with little progress.
As of now I have a NEW printhead and NEW encoder strip, and ribbon cable, just to make sure there was no issues with it.
The printhead I believe works fine but I am not sure if it is a communication issue with FastARTIST or what the problem is.
Please note that I am using ink for printers in place of the textile ink while I test to not waste the liquid gold.
I made them the following Colors: Black LT Black Cyan LT Cyan Magenta LT Magenta Yellow
For running tests I do not think the inks will affect it just make images appear not to color obviously.
I wanted to see where the under base colors would go.
If you look at the result I noticed it looks like a communication issue. Not sure on that though.
Does anyone have any idea on where the problem is or possibility of one?
Have you tried upgrading your printer package for fast rip/fast artist for the t-jet. I originally had a similar issue, and it corrected it.
I believe you can download the packages here: ScreenPrinters.net Support Forums - Powered by vBulletin

Hey Ann,
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried to take a peak there, I am still searching even but my question is could you explain what you changed more? Was it a driver that you upgraded or the FastARTIST software itself, or even something other than that. Thanks!
I would first off make sure that you are running the most recent version of FastArtist & FastRIP. Open Fastartist & go to help & about FastArtist, what is the production date? The latest version is April of 2008 I believe. You will also want to check to make sure that you are on the latest printer package for FastRIP. You can check this by opening FastRIP, then clicking on the printers menu, then manage printers. The latest printer package version is 4.7. the latest version of both is available for download off of the U.S. Screen website once you are signed up for an account & our support team can help you with the install if you need it!
Jason,
While there is a possibility of a communications issue, I'd look at some other areas first.
Number one, how high is your print bed set? It looks to me like this might be caused by the print head touching the garment. Make sure that the shirtboard is 1/16" to 1/8" below the edges of the metal tray and that the print head is not contacting the garment.
Are you getting good nozzle checks? Have you run an alignment? Are you sure you installed the print head and ribbon cable correctly?
All of these things may be the issue, so my advice to you is to download the updated versions of FastArtist and the updated printer packages and then to call tech support so they can figure out which of these several factors may be causing your issue.
I would suggest that you first determine whether it is hardware or software. try printing with the native Epson driver (colors may be off) this should eliminate the software from being the culprit. If it prints fine, then the issue is the software. If it still doesn't print right, then it is either the hardware or a communications problem. Things to check at that point would be the cable, the length of the cable, and the connections. If these things are OK, make sure the encoder strip is installed properly and you can also check to see that the printhead is installed properly (ribbon plugged in all the way and no damage to the ends).
I have found the culprit! It was the NEW printhead that I got. Somehow it was faulty. After spending a all nighter trying to print different things and using utilities to try to talk to the printer that kept erroring out saying communication error. I thought to myself to swap out the print heads and put in the original bad one. (Which I believe was a victim of pretreatment contact) and sure enough that print head was still in tact circuit board wise.
So now all I need to do is an RMA and cross my fingers when it arrives.
Thank you guys for the quick and descriptive replies. It will help me again to debug if another issue arises while I bring this T-Jet back from the brink.
