Exclamation A simple cleaning solution????

Hi all,

This is my first post but I had a question about the cleaning solution that is recommended for the TJET.

FastINK™ TEXTILE HD Cleaning Fluid (1 liter Bottle) cost $80 for a 1-liter bottle.

(U.S. Screen Print & Inkjet Technology | FastINK TEXTILE HD Cleaning Fluid (1 liter Bottle))

I was wondering if anyone knew of any other "generic" means as to a substitute or if it is just a common item that can be ordered via hardware store.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey zhenjie, I just recently found a post regarding the cleaning solution, aircraft grade simple green and distilled water is the same chemical properties as yours right? What is your ratio in the proper mix. Thanks!

Reply to old thread but might help someone. Best cleaning solution is the one from the MFG. But having said that. A old MFG HD cleaning solution is 80% distilled water, 10% ethylene glycol, 10% propylene glycol. Use google to figure that out, google the MSDS of the product you are interested in. % are by weight. good luck use at your own risk.

Randy thanks for this post. My 2 cents is that I tried the windex and aircraft simple green and every other potion I found somebody talking about. In the end I think a couple of print heads died earlier than nesesary because of my great ideas. I agree with your statement about the mfgr. solution is best. I have also had great sucess with DTGInks.com solution and its cheaper. But my solution has been that with better processes using, cleaning, maintaining my machine I am using far less cleaning solution over all, so I pay more but use it less than I used to.
I am still addicted to fiddling and trying my own ways to do things. As Thomas Edison said, "Ď haven't failed. I've found 10,000 ways that don't work." So as long as we learn every time something doesn't work it wasn't a waste. We are that much closer to a solution. (Or we can just buy what some genius engineer guy made. Kinda feels like cheating.)

Use an empty liter bottle:
1/4 amonia
1/3 simple green
1 teaspoon of hand or dish soap
fill the rest with distilled water.

Simple green, Windex, distilled water, Jet Dry, can all be good substitutes for maintenance. Even refurbishing that old capping/pump assembly that is covered in ink. But continuous use, through the print head, can damage print heads, causing the insides and nozzles to be eaten away making the holes larger. In turn will not print correctly and you will have to fork out a payment for a new print head.

The HD cleaning solution, that you refer to, is made specifically to work with Epson components, and to help break up the FastInk/Dupont ink. Some places sell it in a clear or pinkish form.

If your not trying to unclog your print head and your just simply cleaning it out to let the printer sit, then a 50 50 mixture of cleaning solution and distilled water will work fine.
