I have a Tjet original with Blinking Black and Light Black lights. I just replaced the tubing and can't get it to read. I replaced the chips as well, so I know that's not the issue.

Jerid,
Did you get your T1 fixed yet? You probably already did since this post is 4 days old. If not I had something similar once (on a T2) and it was a bad connection on the small cable that goes into the back of the ink carriage. Hope this helps.
Later,
Kip
Thanks Kip for the suggestion. I'll take a look at that tomorrow. I did talk to a friend of mine who said the spring holding the encoder strip could be stretched a little too much. If that's the case, then the encoder strip is most likely being misread because it's not in the proper position left to right. Since it's being misread it's very slow and trying to find the information. Eventually it gives up. I should be getting a new encoder strip and spring tomorrow, I'll let you know.
Thanks for responding.

I see you are using one of the original bulk ink systems. You may have an issue with the bulk system ink hose chain. To test it shut off your printer. Disconnect the ink hose chain from your carriage assembly by snapping out the cartridges and uninstalling the chain bracket. Either put in a set of cleaning cartridges, or disconnect the bulk cartridges from the hose chain and snap them back into the printhead. Turn on the printer and see if your issue goes away. If it does then you need to address the ink hose chain.

If it is, then I assume it could be angled wrong or too stiff? What would the problem indicate?

If the ink hose chain too stiff or sticking it puts outward pressure on the movement of the carriage assembly. It's a problem inherent with that original design. If that does turn out to be your issue you may have to replace the chain or look at upgrading to a better bulk ink system.
Good News / Bad News. Bad news first. I received my spring and encoder strip today in the mail and the encoder strip was smashed in shipping. Good news, I looked and the bracket that held the hoses together was bent down. It has a notch in it and when it went all the way over to the left, the notch wasn't lining up with the end of the casing. So it was stopping about a 1/2" too short, so the carriage couldn't go the entire length of the encoder strip.
Now it's working! Thanks! But now I need to replace my recently purchased encoder strip!
