I noticed on our T-Jet2 that along with the USB port it also has a IEEE1394/Firewire port on it, is it functional? anybody use it? we are currently using the USB interface with no problems but since all of our PCs have Firewire on them I was just wondering if anyone was using the port on their T-Jet2.
I can't answer whether the TJet will work with Firewire, but I can say my experience with RIP software and firewire.
Epson knowingly has a bug in their firewire that will not allow for selection of PPD's. That being said, if you use the firewire port with an Epson printer and a RIP, you can't choose which PPD you want. This kills the RIP. It forces you to use the Epson drivers and not PPD's. So USB or Ethernet is the only solution.
My guess, if you are using a RIP, you can't use Firewire. But even if you could, I've always been under the guise of, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!

Thanks Jerid.....agreed the RIP has no provisions for using the firewire port, which makes me wonder why it was included in the original design of the T-2, maybe US Screen thought since most Macs of that time used Firewire and not USB that it would add flexibility to use a Mac instead of a PC, I have no issue using the USB port and it works great with that interface....was just wondering.
Personally, I would have covered the port (if it doesn't work), but that's just me. Now, if someone used the Epson drivers only, I could see hooking it up Firewire. Of course, no white ink printing would be available.
The Fast T-Jet printers will only work with the USB port.
We do recommend using a high grade USB cord (gold series) to connect the printer to your computer.

Hi Harry,
Thanks for the reply....BTW the T-jet we bought from Equipment Zone works great, not a single issue, very fast shipping....we are very pleased with the machine and the service from you folks.
We did a few test prints last night and it worked flawlessly!....the wife and I are both very happy and as soon as we get it into production I'm sure we'll have a ink order for you guys.
I'm very happy to hear that you're up and running well. Always feel free to contact our support department if you have any questions at all on using your T-Jet printer or the software.

Will do.....given the books and DVDs that come with the printer it's more of a software learning curve than anything else, we are both well versed in Photoshop & Illustrator so its just really learning the interface and where things are.
Here's a sample of one of our first prints we have to do for a customer, it's one of our designs, and to tell you the truth the photo really does not do it justice as far as how good the shirts look.
Very nice looking print. Please post some more pictures of other jobs when you have a chance. If you have any questions when you start printing dark shirts please remember that our support department is available for you.

Sure we'll be glad to, we just need to get our procedures/work flow adjusted to fit with doing DTG printing, it a learning process just like any other aspect of the garment business.
A good example we learned the other day was that you can't take a shirt directly from the heat press to the printer before it cools....yep the ink ran/bled around the design because the shirt was too warm....letting the shirt cool for a few minutes took care of the bleeding...
We have about 100 white shirts to do to fill some orders before we'll tackle the dark shirt/underbase printing at that time I'm sure we'll have lots of questions.
BTW the videos that came with the printer were a great addition besides being very informative it was nice to put a face to some of the folks like Carl Steel and Scott Fresner (sp?).
