Default Value of T-Jet 3 Printing System ?

Hello,

I'm new to garment printing and will be assisting in the opening of a small retail store. We hope to have a dye sublimation and a dtg system in place initially. I found the following on CL and was hoping for an opinion on it's value. Thanks for any input.

T-Jet 3 Printer (2 1/2 years old) as will as everything else as all was bought NEW.
- Dell Inspiron 17" lap top computer (Has extended warranty)
- LED readout heat press 15" X 15"
-Wagner sprayer
- ALL Rip Software which operates the printer (installed on laptop)
- All EXTRA software used to enhance artwork and create artwork. I have all catalogs and CDS for all programs
- Software Quikbooks, photoshop etc. loaded in computer to operate the business

The T-Jet3 was a troublesome dtg printer and the manufacturer is no longer in business. I would suggest you forget the T-Jet3.

Do a search here on the t-jet....and after reading all gazillions entries...you still want to buy this beast..go ahead. I think the biggest item is that IF you have a problem and need parts, your choices may be slim or none. I don't think I would take if free if I had to pay shipping.. JMO

I have to agree with everyone else here. The Tjet 3 was a troublesome printer to begin with and some even speculate it is what brought US Screen to an end. If there was any printer I would avoid buying, it would be the tjet 3. US screen is out of business so the main supplier of parts for it is gone. There are a few people who do tjet service, but how long parts will be available remains to be seen. I would definitely look at other machines that still have the company who builds them available.

You should also consider the environment that you will be operating this printer. If you are going to be using it in a retail store, pretreating might be an issue if you plan on doing dark colored shirts. Will you have a separate area to do pretreating? You cant pretreat in the same area as the printer as the pretreatment can clog your printhead. It is like a starchy type liquid. Do your research and learn as much as you can about the type of area you will have available, and what it takes to print and maintain the machine. DTG can be a great addition to your company as long as you do your research well, are prepared to learn how to print and maintain the machine.

Thanks people, you may have just saved me massive headaches. I had some concerns about the t-jet and you've confirmed them. Now to find an alternative.

We have run a T3 for about 2 1/2 years. Id be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I also have information regarding support and parts.

Main issues would be the board / fuses / and the printhead.

I wouldn't buy it myself without seeing it actually print a few shirts white and color pre-purchase. If they cant meet that sole request, i would move on.

Regards.

When was the last time they printed with the machine. I have a Tjet 2. The original I Tjet 2 (hurricane Ike took that) I had a few difficulties with it mostly operator error. However I then got the bulk ink system from Harry and then got the refurbished replacement Tjet 2 from Harry @ Equipment Zone and it made all the difference in the world. Replacement parts aren't hard to find. Equipment Zone I felt @ the time I purchased the orignal machine and still do know more about the machine than anyone else including the people that made the machine in the first place.

Stay away from the T3! It was not a very reliable printer at all. If you can find a T2 for a reasonable price I would definately take a look at that. These printers are much more reliable and parts are less expensive to buy than most.
