This question is so basic I'm wondering if I have lost gray matter... but here goes:

I hadn't ran the nozzle checks like I should have, honestly only a half dozen in 3-4 months. I did make some prints which worked fine. It's a Epson C88+ printer and I'm using Artainium ink (from Coastal).
Problem: first the yellow ink did not print, yes the black, red and some limited blue printed. I ran 3 head cleanings, each followed by a nozzle check but they didn't clear what I thought was clogged heads.
I then printed a file that was in 360dpi which then showed that yellow and blue were no longer printing.
I then ran 3 head cleanings with nozzle checks and the file again, but no luck.
I removed the Artainium carts and returned the Epson carts hoping the detergent in it would clear out any clogs.
Interestingly the Epson ink printed out perfectly the first time- all colors complete. I ran another file as I already had the ink in the lines, I thought I might as well run
it again to make sure. Again great print.
I reinstalled the Artainium carts, ran a print....now the red and black are disappearing and the cyan and yellow are still gone.
Am I just running out of inks? The "check ink levels" shows 1/4 full when this all started and now cyan is down to 1/8th. It's going somewhere, a sponge or tray I'd guess.

Any insight you can share with me? Thank you very much, if you find any gray matter I get first dibs!

Hi all,

I've recently (last week) begun experimenting with sublimation, and am running into some problems. My setup:

Epson D120 with CISS
Chinese Mugpress

Materials used:
Texprint XP
Manoukian Ink (kinda cheap, should be straightforward DyeSub ink)
Different kinds of substrates, including mugs from different suppliers, 100% poly textiles and some mousepads.

Settings:
I've tried everything, for the mugs:
From 90 seconds to 6 minutes
From 300 degrees (F) to 425 degrees

The problem:
After printing the print looks fine, nothing special, but after sublimating to ANY substrate, only the black comes out truly vividly, the colors are rather dull, red becomes pink etc. The colors don't fade further after sublimating. I've ruined a few mugs and mousepads now and would like to ask you for advise before I go any further.

Another thing I have tried, I've put some drops of pure ink (straight out of the bottle) on a blank piece of texprint and sublimated that on a (already ruined) mug, the color came out great..

Any thoughts?

Originally when planning my business it was to be a silk screen and embroidery business. Back in 2005 I purchased my first new heat press from boo-z warehouse with intentions on using it for silk screen (which I now know isn't the best idea). Anyways within the past couple years with my now Fiancee' we purchased a bunch of different presses and equipment and have a sublimation business as also make Photo Crystals & Metaza. We have been doing pretty well but people keep asking me about apparel. Well I have tried the Laser transfers and everything you can imagine onto regular shirts but I didn't like them. One day while placing an order with Conde' I asked about the Vapor apparel and they highly praised it, so I ordered a few shirts from them to sublimate on. I made my first sublimated shirt and honestly I didn't like it. The print came out good and there wasn't any ghosting because I used the pro-spray from Conde', there were slight press lines. But for me I just didn't care for it. I am very tall 6' 3" and the shirts fit and feel fine, I wish they were a tad longer. So I made one for one of my relatives that has been bugging me for a shirt. Well they liked it so much they want me to make more with in the next week or so. I wore the shirt I made for myself to work and a co-worked asked me about the shirt. I told him it was on that I made. He liked it so much he wants me to make 3 of them for him because he doesn't like the plastic stiff feel of silk screened shirts.

I have to charge $15.00 to $18.00 for a shirt and people are ordering them before I even have them. I'm not complaining or looking a gift horse in the mouth, but it just blows me away. Does anyone else have a bizarre story of how they came to carry certain products? I would be interested to hear stories.

Hi Guys
I am running 2 epson 9600 printers with Lyson sub inks through a wassatch rip. The problem I am having is that i have recently swaped from a 150 gram paper to a 100 gram paper ( big cost benefit)...and I am gettin what I would describe as cockling (ridging of the paper) which in turn causes the print head to catch a ridge and start to cause a crease in the paper which gets worse as the paper runs through as it is now running out of true. Does anybody know of any configuration I can implement to remedy this. I have used heaters to reduce the cockling but this causes more problems with ink drying out.
