As stated in the title, ill be picking one of the submissions and awarding the designer a copy of his own shirt, doesn't have to be the same one. You could always make a different design for yourself.
I called them to see if I could get replacement parts and they told me that I need to be a memeber to get parts from them and membership starts at $10,000.00. My question is are there companies out there that sell universal parts? all I am concerned with is replacing the pads. Everything else is there.

Hi,
I've built my own Screen Printing equipment at home, and am exposing with 4x 20W blacklight bulbs
about 4 inches away from the screen.
I coat, dry with a heater for about 1 hour.
The problem is no matter how long i expose the emulsion (not only in the unexposed area) rinses out with a fairly weak water stream.
I switched to the BL bulbs from regular fluorescent and thought that would solve the problem.
The most I exposed with BL is 15 minutes, and 90 minutes with fluorescent bulbs.

for the first few minutes nothing washes out, and then everything (unexposed and exposed screen areas) start washing out all at once.

I would be happy for any ideas on what is going wrong (drying to much, bad emulsion, etc)

Thanks,
Matt

I am currently looking into a printer for film positives and I am considering the epson 4880. I have a few concerns. I know that this printer is able to do both film positives and dye sub transfer papers as well as the ability to also use chromablast inks. (the tri-brid sytem). As opposed to the blackmax 4880 which is ONLY for film positives. I understand the advantage of the Blackmax sytem (ie, it is faster and probably more opaque as it has all black cartidges) I am looking for input as to whether having this tri sytem is worth it. Clearly, if you have 3 different printers (one for each app), then you don't run the risk of all 3 failing at the same time. Which leads me to my question/concern: How reliable are these printers? Every several months it seems a new printer comes out and the latest model is discontinued. Next thing you know, people are selling their printers (trying to) for fractions of fractions of the original cost. How soon til this happens with the 4880? At nearly $4000, I don't want to make that mistake. Although, the idea of one printer that versatile is attractive. Also, can you just buy the epson 4880 printer "as is" and set it up yourself to be able to print these 3 ways? Because I notice the price difference between the normal 4880 and the Blackmax sytem and Tr-Brid sytem is quite a lot. Is this because of additional hardware in the printer, different drivers, software, etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, everyone.

I am interested in doing more discharge ink work. Mainly as an underbase for certain designs. My question is this: I have heard that a 195-230 mesh is the highest you can go with discharge inks to get decent results. Because of the nature of the ink, anything higher will not lay down enough ink (and therefore enough discharge agent) to sufficiently take the dye out of the shirt. Does anyone have any info on this? I don't want to be limited with designs if I can only use lower mesh screens. There are many designs that require 305 to get the detail, and could be printed with better efficiency with the discharge inks, if possible. I hope this makes sense....? Thanks for your help.
