Default Wanted: Manufacturer!!

Hello,
I’m new to the T-shirt business. I’ve just protected all material pertaining to my designs and am about to embark on a search for a manufacture with high quality digital and t-shirt provider in Europe. What I want to find out out there is; Is there somewhere out there where I can have this all done in `one-house’ at a rate worthy of online selling? I’m open to Europe wide. I also want quality t-shirts. What I don’t want are thick crew neck t-shirts. They have to be thin to my target market. Thin material. I’d be wrapped if someone could point me in the right direction with my posing question.

Shane

Not really knowing the prices in different countries, I think I would start by checking out the manufacturers in your own country and try to make a deal with some local houses.

One way to save a little money is to buy larger quantities of blanks and take them to your printer (when you find one). I think perhaps you might wanna look into Continental Clothing. Find your local dealer.

Other than that, it would seem that some things tend to be a bit cheaper in Germany and also the East-European countries.

I really don't have a lot of information on those but I've done some ordering from Germany and saved a little bit of money. And I do mean just a little. Not a lot.

Hope that helps.

If you want buy only non-printed t-shirt, you can search a local distributor on your country.
For example, a very good distributor for German, French and Italian market, is Falk&Ross Group (www.falk.ross.de). They have several brands of t-shirt and promotionale wear.

Also, if you want to create a particular t-shirt model, you can use the two mainly european distributors that have this solution:
Original Chamaleon (brand of MidOceanBrands) and RusselSolution (brand of Russel Europe)

these are the web-sites:
Original Chameleon - E-Textile Tool
Russell Solutions - the unique, online garment design service

Ciao

Hello Deivid,
Thank you for your reply. I had a look at the web sites you provided and they appear very good however, the type of t-shirt I'm after have to be thin and my particular designs are cartoons which is different say, from promotional ware only as they advertise. I may approach these companies nonetheless and see what they can produce. Also what is important is that the prints have to reflect the material quality. I'd be happy to find cheaper producers in Eastern Europe, but I haven't a clue where to start.

Shane

Hello Shane. By thin, do you mean form-fitting? Did you try looking at American Apparel also? They might have a distributor in Europe.

we currently print on AA, they are amazing but very expensive. You can order them wholesale from their website with prices differing from each countries store (you obviously bear a heavy cost in the price for them having been shipped). The pricse of AA from US distributors are very tempting, but i can't find anyone that will ship - customs will also be an issue.

I'm in the same boat as you Shane currently, let me know how you get all. I'll do the same.

Hello Shane - the Continental suggestion is a good one though, maybe the N45 bamboo T which a really nice lightweight shirt. I deal with London but there's an office in Berlin as well - I'm sure London would give you their number +44 (0)20 8450 5550

Cheers,

Paul

hi Shane and others,

i'm just wondering what's the outcome of Shane's searchings. we are in pretty much the same situation, - just about to start our own brand, have some designs made and are looking for manufacturers. i think one of the issues with manufacturers is that when importing any clothes to Europe they have to be labeled as meeting certain European quality standards.
i've found Clothing manufacturers: Clothes by Ellen Clothing Manufacturer , they write in their website they are providing quality certs for Europe. I'm gonna contact them, and just wanted to drop this link for you as well. Maybe someone have already dealt with them.

So that's all to it.
just to add on the occassion, I'm really impressed with this forum, loads of increadibly useful information, good advises, helpful attitude. keep on good job guys

I'd look locally, at least you have some degree of control if there's a problem. Which country are you in? UK?

Hello Dave,

A quick question, what if overseas is around 30% cheaper in supplying goods at your doorstep than your local supplier?

Thanks

easy fellas.. this my second post, as ive only just signed up.. seems a few of us are in the same boat..

i run a small clothing company in the uk, and up until recently always used AAA tees.. but since they stoppped distributing to europe ive not been able to find anything anywhere near as good.. so thought id try the manufacture route.. but havent got any real knowledge on it to be honest.. anyone feel free to point me in the right direction!..

think the biggest obstacle for manufacturing inplaces like china or india is the import duties..

Import duties aren't a problem, you just factor it into the cost.
The lead times are a problem, returns are a problem, discussing faults with someone whose second language is English is a problem.

Have you thought about buying from Thailand? I can help you if the quantities are big enough.
