Default Removing glue residue from stitched twill

Hello everyone, kind of new here.

I have just removed a twill number off of an air-knit material. I pulled the stitches and unfortunately there is a bunch of gunk attached.

The jersey that the gunk is on is a rare garment, and it is unfortunate that someone added the number.

I am looking for any tips on removing this stuff without messing up the color. If you have any tips, please let me know. It would be highly appreciated

I've used acetone to get off residue from vinyl lettering which works well, just don't rub it or you may pull up the colour.
