Hi there I am new to the board and I am incredibilly stumped!!!! I bought a Singer Futura 1000 and I am having troubles. I am now seeing that it looks like a bunch of people dont like these machines but being a stay at home mother of 2 I cannot afford anything else and have to work with what I have. I have recently started up a little company selling some of my crafts and started using the No 17 stitch on a blanket I have made. It worked fine for the first side and then it started giving me an error 19.. which is improper threading of machine or thread breakage. I have rethreaded it so many times and nothing is changed. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
As I said before I know this machine has a bad wrap but I gotta work with what I have so any info on how to make this thing work for me is greatly appreciated.
Rachael,
My best suggestion would be to go the groups.yahoo.com and do a search for singer sewing machine groups. If you are just getting into embroidery, your dealer should offer you free classes with your machine since there is a lot to learn about embroidery, and usually problems like you are describing are small details you overlook. Don't get discouraged, we all have been through that same feeling Don't be afraid to bug your dealer, that is part of their jobs. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Singer-XLMachines/
There are a few things you can check besides the thread path:
Often times those thread path error codes are caused by the bobbin. Do you have the proper sized bobbin in the machine? And is the bobbin inserted correctly? (check your manual to see if it should be in clockwise or counter clockwise).
Most home machines are very particular about bobbins, and there are several different styles and sizes. If your machine takes a larger flat bobbin, it won't like a smaller one with a rounded top.
Check your needle....put a new one in. Make sure the needle is the proper one for the thread...embroidery thread is a little heavier than regular thread...if you're using a small sewing needle, the eye may not be large enough for the thread.
Make sure your spool of thread is not catching on something before it's reaching the thread path.
If this doesn't help, please feel free to pm me, and I'll try to help you figure it out.

Somewhere along the thread path there is probably a little piece of thread caught that is causing this error. I've had this happen on my Bernina so I just take the cover off the machine and look with a flash light to find whatever is causing the error message. If you aren't comfortable taking the cover off your machine you may need to take it to your dealer.
YOU GUYS ROCK!!! Thank you so much for all of your help! This site is exactly what I am looking for as I am trying to start up a little company making infant items. We did contact singer and probably drove them mad; I didnt even really feel too bad either because I had to shell out how much for the machine. They told me to run a piece of non waxed dental floss through the machine a few times. It worked for a few moments but kept going back to the same issues... stupid thread errors. So my hubby (who works with sensors at his dairy plant) figured out that it is still probably a sensor. So what we did was get some upholstry thread and soaked in in alcohol we then ran it through the machine about 10 times and it hasnt acted up since. Lol stupid sensors. I love what these machines can do these days but doesnt anyone miss the days when they actually made manuals so the person themself could fix the machine? Thank you all for your help! I really appreciate it all.

YES! I not only miss the days when there was a manual with a schematic, but I also miss the days when tech support actually had a clue about the machine. More often than not, when I call tech support for anything, they are nothing more than script readers who are reciting from their own web sites help or trouble shooting section....doing nothing more than having you repeat everything you've already tried!
