I got a request to embroider a logo that was found embossed on a piece of vinyl. I usually have my digitizing done by third party company who use vector or jpg images. Can anyone help me get this logo cleaned up or converted into a vector file? Or suggest a more effective way of getting it digitized? Here's the image
I use Artwork source for all my ditigitizing. I have been very happy with all their work and quick responce. Here is their link ArtWorkSource.Com, Inc | Home
Hi, I use Artwork source for all my digitizing. I am very happy with their professional work. They respond in a timely manner and are very helpful; they will explain things to you about digitizing if you don't understand.
I'm guessing that you scanned the piece of vinyl. if you could draw it with a sharpe it would be much better, the pattern on the vinyl makes it real hard to work with ,try printing the picture and using either a light box or a window trace the pattern first. It may take a few tries to get it right. from there it would be much easier to work with . I use coreldraw but you could use a program such as inkscape to do the vectorizing.
You could draw with a sharpe, but in corel you could put it on a layer and draw it with the vector tools..... Just like you would do by the way in a digitizing program. Because the design is semetrical, you only have to do 1/4 of the work, the remainder would be more or less cut and paste. One note... The way this is to be done in the final stitch file will depend on the final size.

Thanks for all the advises guys. I have DGML Pulse Xi with Autodigitizer, which works pretty well with vector files. The problem with this design has been getting it converted into vector file, especially because it was scanned off a vinyl. I use VectorMagic Desktop version to do vectorization but i need a clean jpg for that.
Zoom_monster: Unfortunately I don't have Corel, but I have Illustrator. Which tool do I use in Illustrator to trace (draw over the design)? I was just recently exposed to Illustrator so I am not really aware of all the tools and tricks.
Elmur, Not sure about Xi Pulse but i would think that you have column and path tools that you could use to create your sections, right over the top of the scan. This is pretty much what you would do in illustrator and you would save a step. In illustrator you would use path tools to define the edges of you sections, then combine. Doing this the "old Fashioned" way would yield a product that would path through the loops and sworls better, look better and run better.
You never said what size this is, but if you were aiming to do this real small, you could just use the path tool (pulse or illustrator) to do much of the work.

Thanks you everyone for your input. Luckily the Qdigitizing, the company that I use for digitizing complex designs came through and did it for me in 24 hours. It cost $25 which I thought was reasonable given the size of 2.5 x 5 and 11,000 plus stitches.
