I was wondering how many Embroiders have customers that come in and would like embroidery on "used" or "worn" garments. I mean mainly like poly or nylon sports jackets etc. What is your reply to this? I won't embroider on used cotton garments, T's sweatshirts etc, but find myself occasionally doing it on "clean" “used” jackets but am not fond of it. I was curious what other embroiders say to this...? Just “NO” or do you also find yourselves doing a few here and there….?

I don't have a problem with embroidering used CLEAN clothing. I have had some want me to take them at the end of the day when they have been wearing them and I won't do it. As long as they are clean and they want to pay what I charge
If you are willing to embroider customer supplied goods, then it shouldn't matter if they are new or used.
I actually prefer doing previously washed cotton goods because it give me more flexibility since I don't have to worry about shrinkage/puckering. For example I wouldn't use tear-away backing on a new tee but would on a previously washed one.

I assume that means only clean ones as well.

That seems to be the problem I encounter. People bring me things they say are clean but tend not to be right out of the wash.
I just am concerned about the quality of embroidery... I have also told people that I will do it but don't guarantee the embroidery. All have been fine with that and I have never had a complaint, I just want to ensure that my embroidery will not be questioned if it happens to be the garment not holding up due to age/worn or what not. Thats one thing I strive for is quality and it has got me several customers from other local embroiders and I would like that to continue...
Thanks for taking to the time to respond and to all a good day!

I take "customers own goods" as long as they have just been washed.
I also have the customer sign a disclaimer that they understand I do not guarantee customer supplied goods.
I just explain to them that while I can judge to a certain degree the outcome of embroidery on garments, I could not possibly know the characteristics of garments that I do not provide.
