Default Buffing out rotary hook?

I found a few nicks and scratches on my rotary hook assembly, which may be causing some bobbin thread breakage.

Has anyone tried to buff it out? If so what did you use to get the nicks off with out causing any additional nicks?

I hate to replace the assembly if I can get it fixed.

You can try emory cloth or very fine sand paper to buff out the nicks and scratches.
It is tendious to do but can save replacing the hook assembly.

Use a Dremel tool with the cratex tip to polish it, or finish polishing it with the eraser from a pencil. Break a pencil in half and put it in an electric drill.

Sooner or later you'll have to replace the assembly, since there's a risk of you over buffing the metal. But you should try to buff with a very fine sandpaper with small strokes on the metal surface.
