Default faking appliques?

didn't know how to ask this question and i'm a serious newbie to anything embroidery, but here goes:

i have a roland gx-24 that will cut twill etc. that has an adhesive back that then has to be sewn on for final application. i know about appliques by researching on this forum, and that what these companies and people do is phenomenal, but, if i only had one piece to do is it worth it to have it done or can i fake it?

this is where i sound stupid but is it possible to say zig-zag sew the twill down in a way that looks like it was done professionally (outsourced)? i know you would have to be very skilled at this technique but is it still possible? can't wait to hear your comments. thanks.

Default Re: faking appliques?

Yes, it can be done and it's always been done as long as you can satisfy the customer. A lot of the tacke-twilled basketball jerseys done here in our country are using manual embroidery machines (not the computerized one). But the operators of these manual embroidery machines are really skillful.
