I was just wondering if anyone could let me know if I am getting a good deal on a refurbed swf B-1501 c 2005. They are asking $7000.00 for the machine tech plus software and basic start-up package. It would be great if someone could let me know if this sounds like a good price. Is buying used embroidery machines a bad idea or are they pretty durable?

Is this through a private party or dealer? Does it come with any warranty? Have you searched ebay for comparably equipped machines?

Good questions Joe. Warranty and Dealer capability/reputation are really important and adds value to a used product. Raga, Check also if the machine is still being produced, is it a current model? In general, Embroidery machines have higher resale values.

A good place to check on current pricing is Embroidery Yellow Pages - Home Page . You didn't say what level software. Will the tech do the set-up? That price sounds about right. Are you close to a SWF training center? That would be a big plus. Was the machine lightly used or did it accumulate a lot of running time? Can you watch it run and check its output before purchasing?
