Re: What's the difference between 1, 2, 3 or 4 heads
A machine with more than 1 head will sew the same disigns more times at once. A 2 head will sew the same design 2 times and so forth. SWF makes a machine with 2 heads that will sew 2 different designs at the time too. I prefer 1 head machines because they are more veratile, but my 2 head dies put out a lot of work for us. .... JB

our local vendor had a ton of the dual function machines that had been returned because they break down a lot. i would stay away from those. the swf dream machine looks pretty cool though. 4 heads and 1500spm.
Re: What's the difference between 1, 2, 3 or 4 heads
We own 2 4-head Tajimas, and 2 single head Tajimas. We use the single head for small hat orders, and the 4-heads for everything else. We also have an adapter for the 4-heads to do 4 hats at a time. Our machines do only one design at a time....they are not multi-functional. But, you don't need to use all 4 heads.....you can shut off each head individually.
Re: What's the difference between 1, 2, 3 or 4 heads
some of the newer single head machines can be networked together & run from the same computer.
so you could have 3 or 4 single head machines embroidering the same design or all doing different designs.
However you set it up on the computer.
This way if you start with one single head & your business is growing you can add another single head to it
thus making 2 heads & so on....
Re: What's the difference between 1, 2, 3 or 4 heads
Another thing, with the networked single heads, if one machine stops for a thread break or something else, the other machines keep on going. On a regular multi-head machine all of the heads would stop thus wasting time.

Yes the cost of 2 single head machines would be more than 1 two head machine. .... JB

I agree with Larry, the single head machines that are networked will do the same job at the same time, but as he said they both do not stop with a thread break or if the bobbin runs out. I have 2 Amayas and they can be set up separately or together. With the Amayas you can link as many as 32 single head machines together or in different groups. If you had 10 of them you could have them all doing the same design at the same time or you could have 5 of them doing the same job, then 2 more doing another job and 3 more doing another job. It is all done with the software.
