Default Minimum letter size

Hi,

I have a design to embroide on a jersey Rugby polo and under the main logo there is some small words 0.1182 (3mm) high.

I expect to use N°60 thread, but I wanted to know your experience with small lettering, ans if this size is critical.

Thks

Did you do a test sew out? I have sewn out 3mm using Floriani 40wt and it turned out fine.

I've used a 50 weight on wovens for small lettering, and it looked great. When I tested out a 60 weight on pique polos, I ended up going back to the 40 weight for that job.

It seems to me that the fabric itself dictates the thread weight as much, or even more, than the size of the lettering.

I always dread this very small lettering because I have to spend so much time testing to get it right. It seems I have to come up with a different plan every darn time.

Thks for the reply,

I have to embroide 1000 polos and I am happy to read that 3mm size & N°40 is possible.

I have not tested yet, I am digitizing the design, so I will test different density and thread weight.

Nobody has mentioned anything about using the correct type of needle. We use a Sharp Point #75/11 from Madeirausa.com when we sew small letters.
